Pj Pets....
So I went to Sherway Gardens to check out pj's pets to see if they were selling and kittens and I found this.....
So happy that finally Pj's is complying with the by-law which they ignored while shelter animals died and they made a profit selling kittens. For every animal bred, one dies in a shelter.
Now Pj's is adopting out shelter cats/kittens!!!! Thanks to all of those who's efforts in supporting the cause.
A little info behind the cause.....
I have been fighting Pj's Pets for almost a year to comply with the by-law the city of Toronto brought into effect September.2011 for the banning of selling kittens/puppies in pet stores.
A dear friend of mine always said " When the whole world says no, say YES"

Declawed Cats are NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN!
Declawing REDUCES possible homes for adoptable declawed cats, another reason the procedure should be banned.
Did some number crunching to figure this out:
Suitability of Declawed Cats vs. Nondeclawed Cats for Families with Young Children. Info from Petfinder.com adoption website, March 11, 2013
By Christine Harris
Nondeclawed cats (123106) minus cats okay with young children (112472) = 10634
123106 – 112472 = 10634 nondeclawed cats are NOT suitable for homes with young children.
= 8.64% nondeclawed cats on Petfinder are listed as unsuitable for homes with young children.
Declawed Cats available (4671)
Declawed Cats [listed as okay or unknown behaviour] okay with Young Children (3994)
Declawed Cats available for homes without young children
4671 – 3994 = 677
677 out of 4671 declawed cats are listed as NOT suitable for homes with young children.
= 14.5% of available declawed cats on Petfinder are NOT suitable for homes with young children.*
Difference is 5.86%
This means declawed cats are LESS SUITABLE for families with young children.
This DECREASES possible homes for declawed cats.
Declawing reduces available homes for those cats.
If declawing was banned, this information suggests the benefits would outweigh any negatives.
Remember, the long-term effects of declawing for a cat get WORSE over time.

Thank you for advocating for animals!
*(Informal results because just using Petfinder listings, not looking at co-factors, etc. This info SHOULD be tracked by veterinary associations like it would be for humans if a procedure has detrimental consequences from deformities that result from it, don't you think?
We don't even know how many declawed cats with behavior problems are put to death by owners or shelters without ever getting a chance to be put up for adoption. This data should also be compiled and made available. This is a consumer protection issue as much as it is an animal welfare issue.)
